Prison Break is an American serial drama television series created by Paul Scheuring for Fox. Adelstein/Parouse Productions (seasons 1–4).This, at least, is genuinely intriguing - Michael might not have gone rogue, but the idea that Paul Adelstein's ex-assassin might be back to his bad old ways is just as tantalising. What her husband Jacob Ness (Mark Feuerstein) generously calls a "hackneyed attempt at counter-espionage" does lead to the revelation that it was Kellerman who hacked Sara's cell. But when the mysterious heavies who've been pursuing her show up at the store, it's revealed Sara's lying in wait – having used her phone as bait to draw them in.Īt which point, Sara suddenly remembers that she should probably be scared of goons with guns and promptly flees. It's a faintly ludicrous reveal, but far from the silliest thing in the episode – that honour goes to a sub-plot designed to keep Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) busy, one that's nonsensical even by Prison Break standards.Īfter her phone is hacked, Sara takes it to an electronics store, apparently in the hope of finding out who's behind the cyber attack. In fact, Michael's working for the CIA, who want Ramal out of prison for their own political reasons, while Whip is his fresh-faced recruit. "That's never who I was," Michael weeps at the end of 'The Liar' – as if we ever really believed it. Certainly, we know that to be true - going all the way back to the show's beginnings, there was a clear strategic reason for Michael agreeing to break the likes of John Abruzzi out of Fox River.īut honestly, we'd still be genuinely surprised, and a little impressed, if our hero had really gone off the rails and become "chums with the head of ISIL" – because while Prison Break might have pretensions of being edgy, it's still ultimately a popcorn thriller, one where the likelihood of our handsome protagonist actually being in league with terrorists was always going to be pretty low. "He is an opportunist - he will use whoever he needs," one inmate says of Michael. Whip (a rather dull companion for Michael - where's Sucre?) starts to worry that he's just being used.

Michael might tell his sidekick Whip (Augustus Prew) that it's all a ruse, but he still appears to be going ahead with a plan to break Abu Ramal (Numan Acar) - "the enemy of everything that's civilised" - out of Ogygia.
